Programme : Concours Iconic Pedestrian Bridge / Concours pour une passerelle piétonne
Lieu : Amsterdam
Maître d’ouvrage : AC-CA
Année : mars 2012

In a city with more that 1500 bridges, the aim wasn’t to simply propose a new way to cross channels but a footbridge with several functions. A whole set of services : café, offices, workshop, bicycles repair centre, bicycles racks, are organized all around an exterior space : a public plaza above water. The location of the pedestrian bridge is the opportunity to make an project orientated toward the Hermitage and the Opera. The plaza, central site of this footbridge has a direct view on the Opera. The café, on top of the view toward Opera, is also orientated toward the Hermitage, other emblematic monument. As channels are a large part of the city identity, we create an opportunity to stay and have a good time above channel. We design a new meeting place, not introverted, but radiant toward city.
